First and foremost, most Americans believe that grant programs are for not
for them, this is not true. People are receiving grants for groceries, health
insurance, college, and child support to name a few.
There are over 1,400 grant programs offered by the 47 Federal grant-making agencies along with 24,000 State Programs,
30,000 Private Foundations and 20,000 Scholarship Programs available. Most people
know that government grants are free money, but did you know that most of
the free money programs are not called grants? They are actually referred to
as "direct payments."
